When the update is adopted in October 2021\, it will establish new strategies for meeting Los Angeles’ housing goals. \nOver the next few weeks the City will release drafts of both\, the 2021-2029 Housing Element and the Safety Element 2021 Update. DESCRIPTION:July 2021 – LIVE WEBINARS\nThe Proposed Draft Housing Element Plan\nHCIDLA and Department of City Planning invite you to – Save the Date! \nCities and counties across California are rising to the challenge of the housing crisis by helping to identify local solutions to combat displacement\, produce more affordable housing and homeownership opportunities\, and lead to a more equitable sustainable City. In Los Angeles\, we are in the process of updating our Housing Element\, which will establish groundbreaking policies and programs to help foster more equitable housing opportunities across the City. When the update is adopted in October 2021\, it will establish new strategies for meeting Los Angeles’ housing goals. \nOver the next few weeks the City will release drafts of both\, the 2021-2029 Housing Element and the Safety Element 2021 Update. When the update is completed\, the Housing Element will guide the creation and implementation of the City’s housing policy from 2021 to 2029.About the Safety Element \nThe Safety Element of the General Plan details Los Angeles’ strategy to prevent\, respond to\, and recover from disaster events. Recent state legislation requires the city to review and update\, as necessary\, the Safety Element alongside the Housing Element. As part of the Safety Element 2021 Update\, the City will integrate targeted amendments into the existing document to better illustrate the City’s approach to disaster management and resilience.
